Yellow Jersey to Carolyn day.....

After a lovely overnight stay with the Sisters of St Joseph at Batehaven, where we were made to feel very welcome and at home - we set off to another blue sky morning from Batemans Bay. Today Carolyn had 70km to cover before the team got to its destination of Narooma......70km of fairly challenging hills, Carolyn tells us....and they certainly looked challenging from the front seat of the 4WD!

But it seemed the hill training paid off  (insert by Carolyn "along with the encouragement and frequent sustenance provided by Jo and Peter") as Carolyn made good time despite headwinds and by 2pm, everyone was enjoying the beautiful coastal views of Narooma while Carolyn desperately shovelled some cereal down, thinking the hills had ended .....only to discover that the last kilometer to the town centre was actually another mountain....but at least tomorrow's start will be from the top of the hill and not the bottom!! And a smile was soon back on Carolyn's face with a quick trip to the local patisserie.

For the tourists among you....high recommendation points for the pristine showers at the Narooma Information Bureau, where we met up with several local people who had come to welcome us and who were hosting us overnight. Taken under their wing, we were whisked off to their homes and again given a wonderful meal (This could be the first 1000 km bike tour where the main rider actually gains weight!).

Tonight the team presented a film night hosted at the Narooma Star of the Sea Church followed by a discussion time over supper. Thanks again to the wonderful group of people who turned up and will hopefully spread the word about human trafficking in Narooma and beyond.

342 kms down ..... 696 to go!
