The Ups and Downs of the Road to Bega.....

Hills......that is actually all that needs to be said for the day (if you ask Carolyn that is).

Other things did happen....left Narooma and the wonderful hospitality of June, Tony and Margaret (with Lumberjack cake, biscuits and fruit for the road, courtesy of June), after a bagsearch on Jo for contraband teddy bears and a search for PJ in all the local coffee shops....

Some fantastic scenery again today....did we mention the hills?.... Carolyn mentioned one particularly thought-provoking sight was a car for sale on a farm on the hwy, which (just for a brief moment apparently) did make her reflect on whether she had her visa card with her or not and whether the support team would notice if she arrived before them???? Jokes aside, it was a tough ride but it went pretty well, with great weather and done in good time. The support team as usual kept up Carolyn's spirits, energy levels and doled out the occasional snake (lolly variety)....although at a particularly low moment while at a pit stop, a superbly decked out cyclist with bulging calves rode past and as Jo pointed out, unless Carolyn caught him up, she had technically lost the day's yellow jersey. Thanks Jo.....

We were very warmly welcomed on our arrival in Bega by Fr Bernard and Sr Jenny and taken on a scenic drive of the spectacular coastline at Tarath, near Bega - followed by a wonderful roast meal, great conversation and a bega cheese supper.....we are indeed spoilt!

Tomorrow morning we make a presentation at the Sapphire Coast Anglican College before leaving Bega for Eden. 420 kms down .....618 km to go.
