Perfect day on the road....almost!

After the hills of yesterday....today seemed like a much easier ride! This was combined with near perfect weather conditions....thanks for all those prayers.....we feel very fortunate with the weather the last few days and hope we are able to continue it down into Victoria to give the people there some respite from the rain and floods.

Had a great morning with a very impressive group of year 10, 11 & 12 students (and their teachers) at Sapphire Coast Anglican College....just outside Bega. A very encouraging response....

Then on the road again.....marred only by a near miss by a careless driver going the opposite way overtaking a little too far across the road and.......magpies! For those rare individuals who have not heard me rant about magpies attacking cyclists during nesting season, this may not mean much.....but for the rest all that needs to be said is that after the first lot of swooping there was a quick attachment of various accessories to the helmet (a flapping shopping bag, plastic ties etc) all designed to ward off magpies and amuse passing motorists....it may not look cool (or even sane) but as my support team remind me frequently, its all about safety.....

Arrived in beautiful Eden by lunchtime, where we are fortunate enough to being staying with a wonderful friend whom Peter and I have known for a longtime and is now a resident in Eden - Lesley Nelson. After being made to feel very welcome, a quick catch-up and being well provided for on the food front, Jo was also treated to close-ups with a group of kangaroos and then alpacas....

Tonight we had a film night hosted by the Eden Anglican Church, which overlooks the ocean.Good discussions about Trafficking ....and several other issues, over the post-film cuppa.

Today marked a few significant milestones in our tour....the halfway mark, our last town before we cross back into Victoria ....and the last day before the much talked about Eden to Cann River run..... should be interesting......more tomorrow night!

  1. Hi folks, great work on the blog. I almost feel like I'm there with you - as I sit in my warm room, at my desk, with my latte.... Keep up the great work, and enjoy your well-deserved rest day. :)
