  6. Today I learned that it is not a good idea to pick up materials for the Tour from Central Sydney at rush hour with a trailer.....
But far outweighing that was the excitement of having all the starting team (well almost all) together.
Looking forward to finally getting on the road tomorrow and meeting all the people along the way who have helped bring this Tour to fruition as well as all those we will speak with in each town about slavery
Off to sleep. More from the road tomorrow......

A few showers predicted for Saturday, but since we have engineered several 'miracles' so far, we're still hoping about this one!

  22. It is twenty years ago that Carolyn came to visit after working in the orphanage in Calcutta. Bedraggled, worn out, dispirited, she had given her all to the abandoned babies and toddlers of a dysfunctional subcontinent. We talked much of her experience. She had banged on the door of Mother Theresa’s Orphanage with nothing to offer but time, love and common sense. She left not knowing if it had been enough. Perhaps with a lack of sensitivity, I told her that the only true solution was political; that Government - good government - was the answer.

Now, twenty years later, I begin to wonder whether I was right. After watching two elections this year with Carolyn (UK & Oz) and witnessing the preparation and execution of Cycle Against The Traffik, I begin to wonder what is truly more effective. Squabbling politicians who never seem to get it right, or a small group of ordinary people with love in their hearts and the courage to see it through.

What could the world be if a million people decided to stand up and spread the word? To live the cause? What could the world be if a billion people decided to make a difference?

Perhaps little sis was right after all.

I think she knows how much I love her, but I probably don’t tell her enough how much I respect her, and her beliefs, and the way she constantly cycles against the traffic.

“There before the grace of you go I.”

    X. R.

PS. I still think Motor Cycles would have been easier.
